Reflective Practice & Encounter
For more than twenty years I worked in the education and training of counsellors and psychotherapists, alongside my own clinical practice. That experience continues to shape my work with practitioners, supervisors, educators and professional teams.
Reflection is now embedded across many forms of professional education and practice. But reflection also has limits. Some things cannot be discovered simply by looking more carefully at ourselves. Understanding can emerge through encounter — through dialogue with another person who sees, hears or responds differently.
My work in this area explores what happens when reflective practice moves beyond individual self-account and becomes genuinely relational. This includes attention to the conditions that make encounter possible, and to the ways professional roles, expectations and techniques can both enable and constrain it.
I offer reflective spaces, workshops, masterclasses and facilitated sessions for practitioners, supervisors, educators and teams interested in exploring these questions in their own work.
